FACEMASKS - FOR WHAT ???
Any disposable medical face mask is worthless to stop any virus. These masks are loose-fitting fabric devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel only to protect accidental liquid contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids.
If you stop and really think about this – regardless of the number or type of masks you wear – your breath has to come in and go out – or you die in less than 4 minutes. Here is a video taken outdoors in cold weather to visually show his breath. This exact same movement of your breath always swirls around you and others even if it is warm and you can’t see it… Any cloth mask is worthless to stop it from going out or coming in… Maybe if you used a plastic bag hermetically sealed with tape – but remember only 4 minutes.
There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza. We did not find evidence to support a protective effect of personal protective measures or environmental measures in reducing influenza transmission. We did not find evidence that surgical-type face masks are effective in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza transmission, either when worn by infected persons (source control) or by persons in the general community to reduce their susceptibility.
